Dr. Robert Ricart, OD joined the practice of Dr. Robert Leitenberger in the G.Daniel Baldwin Bldg. Erie, Pa. in 1981. Dr. Ricart received his doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, PA. in 1981, passing the State Boards in that same year. The practice moved to 300 State St, Erie, PA. in 1985 and is presently located there as Bayfront Eyecare.
At the Pennsylvania College of Optometry Dr.Ricart was a teaching assistant in contact lenses and also interned at the Eye Institute. Dr. Ricart also interned with respected contact lens diplomat Shahane Kirman in Hummelstown, PA. Dr. Robert Johnson Latrobe, PA. as well as the eye clinic of Kimbrough Army Hospital, Fort Meade, MD.
His speciality interests involve working with hard to fit contact lens patients and helping contact lens "drop outs" be successful. He has been in the fore-front in utilizing the the latest contact lens designs and lens care options. He has been a pioneer in the Erie area fitting rigid gas permeable multifocal lenses, and soft multifocal designs. He especially enjoys working with the newest hybrid contact lenses, as well as, scleral contact lenses for improving patient comfort and vision. Patient's benefiting from these lenses include those with keratoconus, corneal grafts, pellucid marginal degeneration and irregular astigmatism.
